VEHICLES SEIZED IN DWI CASES TO BE AUCTIONED

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office is preparing as many as 50 seized cars and trucks to be auctioned.

The auction will be held Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. in the dirt lot near the corner of Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas streets, just north of the Doña Ana County Government Center.

Up for auction are nearly 50 vehicles that have been seized associated with drunk-driving infractions. The total number of vehicles included in the auction will vary up until the auction date, pending court decisions. Thirty-five vehicles belong to the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, and an additional 15 are from federal cases that involved either drug smuggling or human trafficking.

According to the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, vehicles vary from a purple 1957 Chevrolet pickup to a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. All are guaranteed to start prior to bidding, but there are no warranties after the Bill of Sale is signed.  Two mechanics will be on site the day of the auction.

There is no registration requirement to bid, and all bidding starts at $400. The average sale price of vehicles is $1,200.
