Several area community centers will partner with local health agencies this month to promote children’s wellness as part of the 8th annual Dia del Niño.

The event is coordinated though the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department and the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Dia del Niño was created by UNICEF to promote the health and wellness of children and designated April 30 as Dia del Niño, or “Day of the Child.”

Several area healthcare providers and resource agencies participate each year in Dia del Niño, donating time and supplies for the event, which is open to the public free of charge.

Parents and guardians are invited to bring their children to any of six Doña Ana County community resource centers between April 11 and May 4 to learn more about how to protect and improve children’s health and safety. Food, games and arts and crafts projects will also be provided.
Dia del Niño celebrations will be held on the following dates throughout the county:
