The Doña Ana County Government Center will close at 3 p.m. today to allow employees to drive home before colder afternoon and evening temperatures make driving conditions more challenging. The building will open for business at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4.

Employees and the public are encouraged to check the county’s webpage for additional closure and/or opening-delay updates. Regional media also will be notified of any additional closure/delay decisions.

During the inclement weather, residents who lose power are asked NOT to call the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority on either the emergency or non-emergency numbers. Extremely high call volumes related to power outages curtail the efficiency of the dispatch operators.

Residents who lose power and have questions or concerns should call El Paso Electric’s offices at (575) 523-7591 for assistance and/or information.

The Doña Ana County/City of Las Cruces Emergency Operations Center is on standby and will activate if necessary.
