The Fairacres Volunteer Fire District is hosting its second annual Halloween Festival on Oct. 31 for children of all ages who are looking for an alternative to the door-to-door, tricks-for-treats tradition.

Assistant Chief Richard Largent and his 24-member crew will once again pull out the fire trucks for the night and fill the station bay with games and prizes. Children who come in costume can take their pick of candy, too.

As with last year, the volunteer firefighters hope the festival will serve as an opportunity to connect with neighbors and provide an opportunity for future volunteer firefighters to learn more.

“We like to remind families in our area that we are here for them, and we hope they will take advantage of the information we have to offer,” said Largent, who said the evening will also offer some educational, fire-prevention information.
The Fairacres Halloween Funhouse will be open Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fairacres Fire Station, 5208 Quesenberry Ln. For more information, call the station directly at (575) 525-2979 or visit their website, www.fairacresfire.com.
The event is free and open to the public.
