OFFICIALS TO BE SWORN IN DEC. 30 AT COUNTY GOV’T CENTER
Doña Ana County’s legislative delegation, judges and incoming county elected officials who won their respective 2010 elections will be individually sworn-in beginning at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, in the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED FOR COUNTY OFFICES, TRANSFER STATIONS
Most Doña Ana County office will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, and Monday, Jan. 3, to allow employees time with their families during the New Year’s holiday. The administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will be closed, but law enforcement and emergency services in the field will be continuous.

CHAPARRAL SUBSTATION SUSPENDS COUPON SALES
With a key person on holiday leave, solid-waste coupon sales have been suspended at the Chaparral substation of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department. Coupon sales at that location will resume Jan. 4, 2011. The Doña Ana County Utilities Department apologizes for any inconvenience.

SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT ISSUES CLARIFICATION
Contrary to recent published reports, the Doña Ana Sheriff’s Department does not consider Barbara Weith a suspect or person of interest in a triple murder that occurred in April of 2010, in which her husband was one of the victims. Ms. Weith and her attorney have been cooperative with investigators.

CULVERT REPAIR TO CLOSE HARLACHER/ROYCE INTERSECTION
Beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, Doña Ana County road crews will close the intersection of Harlacher and Royce roads to repair a collapsing culvert. Weather permitting, the project is expected to wrap up by close of business Friday, Jan. 7, 2011.

UPDATE: 911 CALL SERVICE RESTORED IN DONA ANA COUNTY
Call service to 911 has been restored throughout Doña Ana County. Calls began coming in again at about 7:45 p.m., and testing of the system has just been completed to ensure the service is stable. The widely known number went down shortly after 4 p.m. due to severed phone lines north of Doña Ana County.

CLERK ELLINS SCHEDULES CEREMONY TO HONOR STUDENT POLL WORKERS
Doña Ana County Clerk Lynn Ellins has scheduled a 10 a.m. ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 22, to recognize student poll workers who assisted with the Nov. 2 General Elections.
