Doña Ana County Manager Brian D. Haines has named Christopher P. Barela to the post of Doña Ana County Detention Center administrator. Barela was chosen from a field of 13 applicants.
To accommodate last-minute property tax payments, Doña Ana County Treasurer Jim Schoonover will open his office in the County Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. Schoonover reminds property owners in Doña Ana County that they have until Dec. 10 to pay their first-half property taxes before state-mandated interest and penalties begin to accumulate.
