MEETINGS SLATED FOR CAPITAL PRIORITIES IN EACH DISTRICT

A series of five community meetings – one in each of Doña Ana County’s five commission districts – has been scheduled to solicit public input on priority needs for capital-outlay funding in individual communities. Once a priority list is compiled, it will be used to lobby the 2013 New Mexico Legislature for funding.

MAILINGS CONCERN SECRETARY OF STATE, COUNTY CLERKS

A group calling itself The Voter Participation Center is sending out mailings to New Mexico residents encouraging them to register to vote or apply for an absentee ballot. Many recipients of the mailings mistakenly believe the materials are being sent by county or state agencies.

WELL DOWN: SOUTHERN WATER USERS ASKED TO CONSERVE

Residents of Santa Teresa and the City of Sunland Park are being asked to conserve water through the weekend while the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority repairs one of two wells that went out of service earlier this week.

FAIR BOARD CONTRACT EXPIRES, TRANSITION IN WORKS

Doña Ana County’s contract with the board of directors of the Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo will expire at midnight, June 30, 2012. County officials are working with SNMSFR officials to facilitate an ordered transition of assets and scheduling at the county-owned fairgrounds west of Las Cruces.

MEETING FOR WASTEWATER PLANT VARIANCE CANCELLED

The Doña Ana County Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for June 28 has been cancelled. The main topic on the meeting agenda was consideration of zoning and variance applications for a proposed wastewater treatment plant off Hope Road north of the City of Las Cruces.

COUNTY ANNOUNCES JULY 4 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Most Dona Ana County offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4, 2012, to allow employees to observe the Independence Day holiday. Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected, but the administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will be closed.
