GRANT COUNTY MAN ARRESTED AFTER DRIVEWAY ALTERCATION

A Grant County man – on probation for residential burglary, larceny, criminal damage to property, and tampering with evidence – was arrested Tuesday at noon after an alleged violent confrontation with his girlfriend.

UPDATED 4 p.m.: FIREFIGHTERS BATTLING MOBILE HOME FIRE

Fire crews from the Fairacres and Doña Ana Volunteer Fire Districts, joined by personnel and equipment from the City of Las Cruces, are battling a large fire west of the Rio Grandé and south of U.S. 70. The fire is under control at this time.

NEW TOWER BRINGS EMERGENCY RADIO COMMUNICATION TO ‘BLACK HOLE’

Since the department’s inception in 1852, few deputies with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department have been able to establish reliable radio communication in the southernmost parts of the county near the U.S./Mexico border, something that Doña Ana County is moving quickly to resolve.
