More than 100 pieces of original student artwork from the Las Cruces and Gadsden public schools have been installed in the first-floor corridors of the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd. in Las Cruces. The exhibit includes paintings, etchings, drawings and fabric designs. The artists range from elementary students to high schoolers.
The Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections is receiving calls from voters concerned that straight-party votes may not be registering properly in the county’s voting machines.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, including the Doña Ana County Sheriff¹s Department and the Doña Ana County Detention Center, will be in uniform serving up dinner on Thursday, Oct. 23, at both Applebee’s locations in Las Cruces. Tips earned by the officers will go toward New Mexico Special Olympics.

The Doña Ana County Sheriff¹s Department is seeking volunteers to assist victims of violent crimes. Volunteers are needed in the Las Cruces, Anthony, Chaparral, Radium Springs, Santa Teresa and Hatch areas.
Most Dona Ana County offices will be closed Monday, October 13, 2008, to allow employees to observe the Columbus Day holiday. Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected, but the administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff¹s Department will be closed.
District 4 Commissioner D. Kent Evans has been reappointed to the National Association of Counties’ Labor and Employment Steering Committee. Evans was vice chair of the committee in 2007.
Applications for three upcoming open positions on the Extra Territorial Zoning Commission are being sought by the Doña Ana County Planning Department.
The positions represent three of the county’s representatives to the seven-member city/county entity.
Doña Ana County and the City of Las Cruces will host a third round of Vision 2040 public-input meetings the week of Oct. 20. All residents of Doña Ana County and Las Cruces who are interested in long range planning and improving their community are encouraged to attend.
