PLACITAS ARROYO BREACHES; MINIMAL FLOODING REPORTED

The Placitas Arroyo has breached and is flooding to an open field near Hatch, but no water is headed toward the village.

Eleven residences north of Hatch and north of the arroyo have been affected, and voluntary evacuations are underway to those rural residents. The evacuations are precautionary at this time.

State Police at the Hatch Incident Command Center report at this hour that the water in the arroyo is receding, and crews from the Elephant Butte Irrigation District are actively working to repair and reinforce the arroyo banks.

Water was, at one point, reported running across N.M. 187 and State Road 26, but the roads remain open.

The Doña Ana County Emergency Operations Center has been activated with essential personnel.
