6. CASE # Z08-002/FLORES: The applicant, Jim Flores, is requesting a Zone Change on a 1.74-acre parcel from EI1C to EI1. The current zoning was established at some point between March 1989 and June 1990 with conditions that can no longer be determined. The subject parcel is located south of the City of Las Cruces bordering South Main St. at 110 Blue Sky Lane, within Section 4, Township 24 South, Range 2 East, and can be further identified by Map Code # 4-009-139-081-302. The Extra-Territorial Zoning Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 22, 2008, recommended approval, with a 4-0-1 vote.

7. CASE # V08-003 / SOWARDS The applicants, Tommy and Barbara Sowards, are requesting a Variance of eighteen feet (18’) from the rear yard setback of twenty feet (20’ feet) for a two foot (2’) rear yard setback to accommodate a protective screening enclosure. The 0.37-acre parcel is zoned ER7 (Residential, 5,000 sq. ft. minimum new lot, single family, duplex or apartments allowed), is located west of the City of Las Cruces, and is described as Lot 5, Block 3 of the Emma Subdivision in the Picacho Hills area. The subject property is addressed at 6755 Cordova Rd., and is located within Section 8, Township 23 South, Range 1 East, and can be further identified by Map Code # 4-002-134-195-453.

8. Proposed Amendments to the Las Cruces Extra-Territorial Zoning Ordinance (No. 88-02). The Extra-Territorial Zoning Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 22, 2008, recommended approval of the following amendments, each with a 5-0-0 vote:
a. Proposed Modification to Amendment 2007-01, Article VIII, “Keeping of Animals”;
b. Proposed Amendment to Article II, “Administration of the Zoning Code”, Section 2.4.I: “Interpretations of District Boundaries”; and
c. Proposed Amendment to Article II, “Administration of the Zoning Code”, Section 2.2.C, ”Building Permits and Plans”
