A Joint Work Session of the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners and the Las Cruces City Council will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. in the Las Cruces City Council Chambers, 200 N. Church St., Las Cruces, NM. (PLEASE NOTE: The Work Session replaces the Regular Meeting of the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners originally scheduled for March 22.) The Work Session is being scheduled for discussion relating to public business and guidance relating to public policy development. There will be no official vote or other action taken by either the Board or the Council. The agenda will be as follows:

  1. Roll Call of Commission Members Present and Determination of Quorum.
  2. Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation.
  3. COMMISSION CONVENES AS THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN OPEN SESSION.

    Items the Board may discuss include:

  4. Spaceport X-Prize – A presentation by a representative of the New Mexico Office of Space Commercialization.
  5. Rural Transportation Infrastructure – A presentation by Rebecca Rizzuti, representative from the office of United States Senator Jeff Bingaman.
  6. Possible Regional Fire/Police Training Facility – A presentation and discussion led by City of Las Cruces Deputy Fire Chief Bencomo, Doña Ana County Sheriff Todd Garrison, and Doña Ana County Fire Marshal Paul Chavez.
  7. Healthcare Issues – An update on community healthcare issues, the Health Alliance, and hospital funds, led by Silvia Sierra, Director, Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department.
  8. Child Abuse - A presentation by the City of Las Cruces Special Prosecutor for Domestic Violence.
  9. Drainage and Flooding – An update by Paul Dugie, Director, Doña Ana County Flood Commission and Chuck McMahon, Director, Doña Ana County Planning and Community Development Department.
  10. After-School and Ancillary Youth Programs – A discussion led by the City of Las Cruces Public Services staff regarding possible joint partnerships of the City, County and School District.
