RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY SCHEDULED FOR NEW LA MESA FIREHOUSE

Doña Ana County Commissioners, local dignitaries and La Mesa residents are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Doña Ana County’s newest firehouse, La Mesa Fire Station District 4.

The event will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the station, 15765 S. Highway 28 in La Mesa. Doña Ana County Fire Marshal Robert Monsivaiz will give opening remarks, followed by an invocation by Deputy Fire Marshal Eric Crespin.

Residents in the area said the new fire station is a needed resource where they live.

“Having a newer fire station here in the South Valley is a huge relief,” said Amy Kord, a life-long Doña Ana County resident who lives with her husband and two daughters near La Mesa in San Miguel. “As a homeowner, you hope your family never has to experience a tragic event like a house fire. Knowing we have a modern facility dedicated to this part of the valley makes me feel confident that if that were to ever happen, crews could respond quickly.”

District 1 Doña Ana County Commissioner Billy Garrett will be a guest speaker at the April 20 ceremony, along with Abelardo Natividad with Studio D Architects, Levi Williamson of White Sands Construction and La Mesa District Chief Tom Ontiveros.

The public is invited to attend.
