VADO MAN WANTED AFTER BEATING ESTRANGED GIRLFRIEND

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators say a Vado man is wanted on battery charges after he showed up to his girlfriends house and allegedly beat her in the head.

According to a report, Jose M. Fernandez-Velazquez, 36, was allegedly intoxicated when he went to his girlfriend’s home in Chaparral on March 18, 2013. The two reportedly had not seen each other since December of 2012.

The woman told investigators she did not want Velazquez at her home and offered him a ride back to his house in Vado.
The woman said as she escorted him in the residence, Velazquez allegedly began to punch her repeatedly in the head. According to the woman, she wasn’t able to leave the residence until Velazquez reportedly passed out.

Sheriff’s investigators obtained a warrant for Velazquez’s arrest on Wednesday. He is wanted on one fourth-degree felony count of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of battery against a household member. His bond was set at $5,000 cash.

Velazquez is described as five feet, three inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. If anyone has any information on his whereabouts, please call 911 or the Doña Ana County Sheriff’ Department at (575) 525-8806.
