100 DAYS AND NIGHTS OF SUMMER INITIATIVE NETS CITATIONS, ARRESTS

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies working an intensive, annual enforcement initiative through a partnership with the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, New Mexico Department of Transportation and Mothers Against Drunk Driving reported more than 13,000 citations and arrests during the 100 Days and Nights of Summer anti-DWI program.

Since 2007, 100 Days and Nights of Summer has been an effective enforcement program that encourages local law-enforcement agencies to conduct checkpoints and saturation patrols during a 100-day period from July 1 to Sept. 30.

In that period of time in 2012, Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies made 179 arrests, of which 14 were subjects wanted on felony charges.
