COMMUNITY MEETING PLANNED FOR CHAPARRAL

COMMUNITY MEETING PLANNED FOR CHAPARRAL

Residents from both Doña Ana County and Otero County are invited to a community meeting to discuss a new master plan for the area.

The meeting will be held May 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Chaparral High School cafeteria with representatives from both counties available to answer questions and explain the master-planning process. All who attend will be asked to complete a survey at the conclusion of the meeting.

Beginning in June, door-to-door surveying will begin in both counties to gather additional input and enhance community awareness.

Simultaneous English-to-Spanish translation services will be available at the May 22 meeting, and the survey crews will be bilingual.

“This is the beginning of a process that will help Chaparral come together and grow in a productive way,” said District 2 Doña Ana County Commissioner Dolores Saldaña-Caviness. “On both sides of the county line, residents have legitimate concerns about public safety, quality of life and governmental services. This process will address all those needs and more.”

For more information about the meeting or the master-planning process, interested residents may call Susan Gelvin in the Doña Ana County Community Development Department at (575) 525-6169.
