PUBLIC COMMENT SOLICITED ON WILDFIRE-PROTECTION PLAN

PUBLIC COMMENT SOLICITED ON WILDFIRE-PROTECTION PLAN

The Doña Ana County/City of Las Cruces Office of Emergency Management is seeking public input during the development of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

The strategic plan identifies specific wildfire risks facing several Doña Ana County communities and neighborhoods, such as wildfire response, hazard mitigation, community preparedness and structural protection.

The goals of the CWPP are to promote wildfire awareness and safety education for at-risk communities, and to also identify and reduce hazardous fuels to ultimately protect life, property and natural resources.

Anyone who lives in Doña Ana County is invited and encouraged to provide comments on the draft wildfire plan. The plan is available for public view during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Office of Emergency Management, 1170 N. Solano, Suite O. Las Cruces, N.M. 88001, or accessed via the Internet at www.donaanacounty.org/emergency

Comments on the plan should be directed to Michael Villa, OEM Coordinator, at (575) 647-7901.
