COUNTY-WIDE EMERGENCY PLAN TO BE TESTED SATURDAY

The Doña Ana County/City of Las Cruces Office of Emergency Management will oversee an emergency exercise Saturday, March 30 to test a county-wide response plan in the event of a large-scale airplane crash.

The exercise will take place at the Las Cruces International Airport from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will enlist the help from nearly all area emergency agencies, including the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department and Bomb Squad, the Dona Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Department, the Las Cruces Fire Department, New Mexico State Police, Doña Ana County Search and Rescue, Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue, Organ Mountain Technical Rescue Squad, Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol, Civil Air Patrol, Red Cross, Doña Ana Community College, Las Cruces International Airport Operations, Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority, American Medical Response, Amateur Radio Emergency Services, Las Cruces Public Schools, and the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The exercise will test the Las Cruces International Airport Emergency Plan and the Doña Ana County All-Hazards Emergency Operations Plan in the response, mitigation, and recovery from a large-scale airplane crash.
