PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT FOR PROPOSED NOISE ORDINANCE

PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT FOR PROPOSED NOISE ORDINANCE

Doña Ana County’s Community Development Department has scheduled a series of public meetings to gather input on a proposed noise ordinance for Doña Ana County.

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department and Legal Department are also working with Community Development to finalize the ordinance.

The purpose of the Noise Control Ordinance is to protect, promote and preserve the public health and quality of life for residents in the rural areas of Doña Ana County by minimizing excessive noise. Before the proposed ordinance, the sheriff’s department fielded hundreds of calls every month from county residents complaining of noise, but deputies were powerless to do anything about it.

Four public-input hearings are scheduled before the Board of County Commissioners votes on the ordinance. A copy of the ordinance also be found online, at this link: ProposedNoiseOrdinance2012-01-23.pdf.

Hearings will be held on the following dates throughout the county:

Vado/Del Cerro CRC 180 La Fe Avenue February 21, 2012 6-8 PM

Chaparral CRC 190 County Line Road February 22, 2012 6-8 PM
