ANIMAL SERVICES BOARD SEEKS ASSESSMENT TEAM APPLICANTS

ANIMAL SERVICES BOARD SEEKS ASSESSMENT TEAM APPLICANTS

Applications are being accepted through Friday, Jan. 27, for a member of the public to serve on the assessment team assigned to evaluate programs and facilities at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley.

In addition to the public position, the assessment team will comprise a licensed veterinarian, a Las Cruces or Doña Ana County Animal Control officer, an individual with a background in building design/maintenance and the internal auditor of either Doña Ana County or the City of Las Cruces.

The assessment team will work closely with shelter Executive Director Dr. Beth Vesco-Mock, who will provide logistical support and serve as an ex-officio member of the team.

The team will inspect the facility and make determinations as to whether operations and programs are in compliance with both the ASV Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters and the ASCMV Policies and Procedures Manual.

After the assessment is complete, a report will be prepared, and a spokesperson for the team will present findings and an action plan for recommended improvements.

To apply, send a letter of interest, a current resume and three letters of recommendation to Doña Ana County Public Information Director Jess C. Williams at 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, N.M. 88007.

Each applicant should state in the letter of interest why s/he would like to serve on the assessment team and why s/he is qualified to do so. Information in the resume and the reference letters should support the points made in the letter of interest.

Examples of relevant information include: ability to conduct evaluations and interpret standards; experience working on teams; being open-minded and fair; general knowledge of and interest in animal welfare; ability to write formal reports; and knowledge of organizational operations and management.

The ASCMV board of directors will select the assessment team members at their Feb. 2 regular meeting.
