PRESENTATION ON SHELTER MEDICINE SLATED FOR MARCH 22

PRESENTATION ON SHELTER MEDICINE SLATED FOR MARCH 22

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) will host a presentation regarding shelter medicine on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces in conference room 1-113

The presentation will be given by Dr. Gerryll Hall, lead veterinarian for Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health’s VetReach program, which provides research, development, manufacturing and sales of veterinary medicines. Hall also practices in Atlanta, Ga., and works with two rescue groups and one shelter.

Hall’s presentation on shelter medicine will highlight health issues that occur in communities across the country, such as the need for pet owners to vaccinate animals. Animals that are not vaccinated regularly and brought into a shelter have the potential for becoming ill and infecting other animals.

The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley at (575) 382-0018. The TTY number is 575/541-2182.
