VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT TO FACILITATE 12-STEP PROGRAMS FOR INMATES

The Doña Ana County Detention Center is seeking volunteers who can facilitate a 12-step program for inmates. The weekly Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous program for the mental-health wing of the facility has been curtailed due to a lack of facilitators.

Ideally, a team of two facilitators is sought, so that in the event that one cannot attend the weekly session, the other can continue the program without interruption.

Applicants for the facilitator positions must obtain an application form from the Doña Ana County Detention Center Administration Office and provide a current New Mexico driver’s license and Social Security card, both of which will be utilized to conduct a mandatory background check.

Successful applicants will then receive security training and will commit to a weekly schedule for facilitation of the classes.

All volunteers are escorted by Detention Center staff at all times while on the site, and officers are present in the classroom areas at all times that classes are being conducted.

No formal educational certification is required to facilitate the 12-step programs. Teaching materials will be provided.
