DOÑA ANA COUNTY SHERIFF'S ACADEMY TO GRADUATE 10 CADETS

The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will graduate its 16th law-enforcement academy during a 2 p.m. ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at an invitation-only ceremony in the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center. Doña Ana County Sheriff Todd Garrison will be the commencement speaker, and cadet Jonathan Riedel will give the valedictorian's address. Third Judicial District Judge Jerald Valentine will administer the oaths of office.

Garrison said the cadets will receive their law enforcement certifications at the graduation ceremony, which will feature an opening honor guard, the Pledge of Allegiance, an invocation and awards for academic, physical and overall achievement. The 26-week academy includes classroom instruction, firearms training, firearms certification and intense physical conditioning.

Graduating cadets will wear the uniform of the department they intend to serve, and they will be presented their individual badges at the conclusion of the ceremony.

In addition to Riedel, graduates who will join the ranks of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department include Anthony Abeyta, Jason Barnard, Adrian Gonzales, Ruben Hernandez, Bryce Mellon, Juan Pell, Eric Rooney and Vanessa Zamora.

Robert Frank will join the ranks of the Deming Police Department.
