A REMINDER TO RESIDENTS: FIREWORKS ARE RESTRICTED

The Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Department reminds residents throughout Doña Ana County that fireworks sales, possession and use are regulated by local ordinance.

In the unincorporated areas of Doña Ana County the possession, sale, possession for sale and/or use of the following fireworks is prohibited as per County Ordinance 233-07.

1. All aerial devices including:
a. Aerial shell kit-reloadable tubes
b. Aerial spinners
c. Helicopters
d. Mines
e. Missile-type rockets
f. Multiple tube devices
g. Roman candles
h. Shells
i. Stick-type rockets

2. All ground Audible devices, including:
a. Chasers
b. Firecrackers

Regulations regarding the safe and proper use of allowed fireworks:

1. No person shall ignite any firework within 150 feet of a fireworks retail sales location.

2. No person shall ignite any firework on state forestland, wild lands or within a bosque.

3. No person shall ignite fireworks within a motor vehicle or throw fireworks from a motor vehicle.

4. No person shall throw ignited fireworks into or at a motor vehicle.

5. No person shall place or throw ignited fireworks at or near a person or group of people.

6. The discharge of fireworks on county roads and rights-of-way is prohibited.

All violations are punishable by fine and/or imprisonment.
