COUNTY PUBLISHES, SELLS UPDATED COMPREHENSIVE STREET ATLAS

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Division of the Doña Ana County Planning Department has updated and republished an exhaustive street atlas of every thoroughfare in Doña Ana County, including those within the City of Las Cruces, the City of Anthony, the Village of Hatch, the Town of Mesilla and the City of Sunland Park. Also included are the streets and roads in and around 17 unincorporated communities.

The 2010 Doña Ana County Street Atlas is available for purchase at a cost of $15 per copy at the Doña Ana County Planning Department and the Doña Ana County Utilities Department. Both departments are located inside the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces. Cash and checks are accepted payment methods.

The 189-page atlas is bound and features a color front cover. The book is printed on 8 ½ x 11 inch sheets that make research easy and quick. The size also lends itself to briefcases, travel bags and automobile pockets.

GIS Administrator Keith Odenheim said his staff had, for years, recommended a commercial publication that cost more than $20.

“We determined that we could produce a better book for a better price, and we could be 100 percent sure of it being up to date,” Odenheim said. “We have the capacity to add supplements as necessary and to easily update the book each time we do a new press run. The 2010 updated version reflects that ability.”
