DETENTION CENTER TO GRADUATE CLASS OF NINE

The Doña Ana County Detention Center will graduate eight detention officer cadets and one lieutenant on Friday, June 18, 2010.

The graduating cadets have satisfactorily completed the seven-week Basic Detention Officers’ Academy, which consists of physical training, classroom instruction and field experience. All training is done in-house at the county’s detention center, under the supervision of Sgt. Luis Contreras.

The graduating cadets are Michael Billiot, Andrew Margarit, Ralph Marquez, Alex Medina, Joe Medina, Stephanie Mercado, Jaime Morales, Angela Prince, Luis Rey and Clay Taylor. Marcus Westover will graduate with the rank of lieutenant.

District 5 Doña Ana County Commissioner Leticia Duarte-Benavidez will deliver the commencement address, and Doña Ana County Probate Judge Alice Salcido will administer the oaths of service.

The commencement ceremony will be held in the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18. The public is encouraged to attend.
