OFFICERS BECOME FOOD SERVERS IN SUPPORT OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, including the Doña Ana County Sheriff¹s Department, will be in uniform serving up dinner on Friday, April 2, at both Applebee’s locations in Las Cruces. Tips earned by the officers will go toward New Mexico Special Olympics.

In addition to the law-enforcement personnel, several Special Olympians will be on hand to open doors, assist with seating and otherwise generate excitement for the local and statewide games. They also will assist with fundraising by selling t-shirts, wristbands and torch pins promoting Special Olympics in New Mexico.

The event runs from 5 – 9 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the Applebee’s on Avenida de Mesilla and the Applebee’s on Lohman, east of Telshor.

Officers from the Doña Ana County Sheriff¹s Department, military personnel, the U.S. Border Patrol and the New Mexico State University Police Department will work the Avenida de Mesilla location, while officers of the Las Cruces Police Department will work the Lohman/Telshor location.

In May, the Doña Ana County Sheriff¹s Department and other law-enforcement agencies will participate in the annual torch run in advance of the statewide Special Olympics in Albuquerque.
