DOÑA ANA COUNTY SHERIFF’S ACADEMY TO GRADUATE 15 CADETS

The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will graduate its 15th law-enforcement academy during a 2 p.m. ceremony on Friday, Jan. 7, 2010, at an invitation-only ceremony in the Doña Ana County Government Center. Third Judicial District Attorney Susana Martinez will be the commencement speaker, and cadet Joshua Sheldon will give the valedictorian’s address. Third Judicial District Judge Stephen Bridgforth will administer the oaths of office.

Sheriff Todd Garrison said the cadets will receive their law enforcement certifications at the graduation ceremony, which will feature an opening honor guard, the Pledge of Allegiance, an invocation and awards for academic, physical and overall achievement. The 26-week academy includes classroom instruction, firearms training, firearms certification and intense physical conditioning.
Graduating cadets will wear the uniform of the department they intend to serve, and they will be presented their individual badges at the conclusion of the ceremony.

In addition to Sheldon, graduates who will join the ranks of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department include Martha Isela Aguilera, Benjamin Azcarate, Jonathon Barreras, Jose Barron, Kenneth Davis, Carl Jaquez, Eric Hadley, Peter Skworonski and Pierce Wibur.

Graduates who will join the ranks of the Sunland Park Police Department include Anthony Barraza, Enrique Barraza, Moises Ruiz and Juan Saucedo.

Louis Tavizon will graduate and join the ranks of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department.
