EARLY VOTING BEGINS AUGUST 25 IN ADVANCE OF SEPT. 22 ELECTION

Early voting gets underway at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Doña Ana County Government Center, in advance of the Sept. 22 election, which will determine whether a ¼ percent sales tax will continue to be collected to support operational costs for Doña Ana County’s 16 volunteer fire districts. Early voting will continue through Sept. 19 during normal business hours, excluding weekends and holidays. The only exception will be Saturday, Sept 19, when the Doña Ana County Government Center polling location will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote in the Sept. 22 election is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. Last-day registrations will be processed at the Doña Ana County Bureau of Elections in the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21.

Residents of the City of Las Cruces, the Village of Hatch, the Town of Mesilla and the City of Sunland Park are not eligible to vote in this election. Only voters whose registered addresses are in unincorporated areas of Doña Ana County will be allowed to cast votes.

Election Day will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, with consolidated polling places open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For a list of polling places, visit the Doña Ana County website at www.donaanacounty.org/elections
