DETENTION CENTER TO LAUNCH MODERNIZED INMATE-ACCOUNT SYSTEM

The Doña Ana County Detention Center is modernizing the way that families of inmates can make money available to their loved ones for the purchase of commissary items.

The new program – which takes effect Aug. 15 – will allow friends and family to deposit funds directly into inmate accounts, eliminating paperwork for the facility.

In the joint venture designed to streamline operations and enhance public safety, Aramark Correctional Services (ACS) and the Doña Ana County Detention Center will accept deposits at any time of the day or night by telephone or Internet.

The trademarked TouchPay system provides a secure website and telephone number so friends and family members can electronically deposit money – using a debit or credit card – to any inmate trust fund.

This replaces the old system under which loved ones often had to take time off from work to travel to the facility during the deposit window’s hours of operation.
