WOMEN VETERANS TO CONVENE IN DOÑA ANA COUNTY

The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services has announced that the New Mexico Women Veterans’ Conference will be held March 27-28 at the Ramada Palms Conference Center in Las Cruces.

The event will feature presentations by New Mexico Nation Guard Adjunct Gen. Kenny Montoya, New Mexico Veterans Service Secretary John M. Garcia and Craig Moore of the Albuquerque VA Regional Office. Also featured will be Maj. Gen. Irene Trowell-Harris, director of the federal VA’s Center for Women Veterans.

In addition to the featured presentations, workshops will be offered during the conference across a wide range of areas, all designed to assist women veterans with securing benefits and availing themselves to state and federal programs in the following areas: behavioral health care, readjustment services, VHA resources, veteran business development and education benefits.

In addition, an overview will be offered related to the application process by which VA benefits and compensation can be obtained through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the New Mexico Department of State Veteran Services. This program will feature information on new benefits, as well as the qualification and application procedures.
