COUNTY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR EXTERNAL AGENCY FUNDING PROPOSALS

Doña Ana County has opened its annual application period for external-agency, non-health services PILT funding for the period of July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. Completed applications must be returned by 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009.

Collaborative applications will be considered under each of the following funding priorities:

• Animal Services

• Youth Services

• Senior Services

• Educational Services

• Economic Development Services

Interested agencies are required to meet as a collaborative to complete and submit a single application under each of these service areas. Application packets may be picked up at the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department, 845 N. Motel Boulevard, Suite 2-201. Requests for an electronic version of the Health Services application should be sent to jacobn@donaanacounty.org.

Agencies eligible for funding include non-profit agencies, 501c3s, and state, federal and quasi-governmental entities. Questions regarding Health and Social Services-PILT funding, the application process and/or collaborative agency meeting dates should be directed to the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department at (575) 525-5838 or (575) 525-5833.

During the current fiscal year, the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners allocated PILT funds as follows:

o Doña Ana Arts Council
o City of Sunland Park
o Gadsden Independent School District

• Senior Services $47,000
o Rio Grandé Valley Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
o Service, Education/Employment and Redevelopment Agency
o City Of Sunland Park
o Doña Ana County Senior Olympics

• Educational Services $145,600
o Doña Ana Cooperative Extension (NMSU)
o Asombro Institute for Science Education
o La Union Soil and Water Association
o Hillrise Elementary
o Hatch Public Library

• Economic Development Services $109,700
o Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance
o Anthony/Berino Economic Development Corporation
