COLONIAS RESIDENTS HOLD ENCHILADA DINNER IN ADVANCE OF COLONIAS DAY

For the past five years, Colonias Day in Santa Fe during the Legislature has drawn an ever-increasing contingent of Doña Ana County colonias residents who want their legislators and the governor to hear first-hand about their communities’ infrastructure and program needs.

In an effort to generate additional funding for more residents to attend Colonias Day in Santa Fe in 2009, a group of community activists has organized simultaneous enchilada dinners on Saturday. Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enchilada plates will be sold for $5 each.

The enchilada-dinner sites are as follows:

• Vado/Del Cerro Community Center at 180 La Fe in Del Cerro.

• San Miguel Tres Manos Headquarters at 19030 S. N.M. 28

• Butterfield Park Water Association at 9774 Butterfield Blvd.

Colonias Day in Santa Fe will be celebrated this year on Wednesday, Feb. 25. For more information or to get involved, call Erica Gonzalez at the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department at (575) 525-5875.
