MEXICAN CONSUL GENERAL INVITES COMMISSIONER BUTLER TO EVENT

District 1 Doña Ana County Commissioner Oscar Vásquez Butler has been invited by the Consul General of the Mexican Consulate’s El Paso office to attend a networking meeting next Tuesday at the Consular Mission on San Antonio Avenue.

The invitation identifies Butler as a leading area advocate for residents of Hispanic heritage, and says the goal of the event is to forge closer relations among advocates in Chihuahua, El Paso and Doña Ana counties. The event will highlight programs and initiatives that got underway in 2008 and will further identify collaborative opportunities for 2009 and beyond.

“I’m honored to be invited to this prestigious event,” said Butler. “While my work in Doña Ana County is neither partisan nor race-related, I am pleased that Consul General Roberto Rodriguez Hernandez recognizes that legions of Hispanics in Doña Ana County do, in fact, benefit from the programs that I champion as a Doña Ana County commissioner. I’m hopeful that I will meet others at this event with whom Doña Ana County can partner in the future for additional initiatives that may be identified.”
