VISION 2040 PUBLIC MEETINGS SCHEDULED

Doña Ana County and the City of Las Cruces will host a third round of Vision 2040 public-input meetings the week of Oct. 20. All residents of Doña Ana County and Las Cruces who are interested in long range planning and improving their community are encouraged to attend.

These meetings will be led by the consultants at Peter J. Smith & Company. The primary focus will be a presentation of alternative future development scenarios. Participants will be asked to judge different aspects of each possible outcome.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

Wed, Oct. 22 1-3 p.m. Las Cruces Doña Ana County Gov. Center, 845 Motel Blvd

Wed, Oct. 22 6-8 p.m. Chaparral Chaparral Multi-purpose Center, 190 County Line Dr.

Thu, Oct. 23 1-3 p.m. Santa Teresa Santa Teresa Country Club, 75 Feathermoon Dr.

Thu, Oct. 23 6-8 p.m. Las Cruces Sonoma Elementary School, 4201 Northrise Dr.

Vision 2040 is a long-range, regional comprehensive planning project that is evaluating the needs of the region for the next 30 years, and identifying ways Doña Ana County and the City of Las Cruces should act to meet those needs. Specific topics will include population growth and land use, transportation and infrastructure, environmental issues, affordable housing, economic development and many others.

In addition to the public meetings, Doña Ana County and the City of Las Cruces are seeking written comments on draft documents. These documents include an 11-chapter Existing Conditions Report, and a Preliminary Vision Statement, Goals and Objectives document. These documents are available for download from http://vision2040.nmsu.edu/documents.html. Hard copies may be viewed at the following locations:
