Well in advance of the 2009 Legislature, Doña Ana County staff has embarked on a series of community meetings to discuss infrastructure and capital projects for funding consideration at the state level.

Community representatives will have the opportunity at each meeting to receive updates on ongoing projects, as well as to suggest funding priorities for the next budget cycle. Doña Ana County staff also will be on hand to answer questions regarding county services.

Each meeting begins at 6 p.m. The schedule of meetings is as follows:

* The communities of Doña Ana, San Ysidro, Fairacres and Old Picacho will meet July 17, 2008, at the Doña Ana Community Center, 5745 Ledesma Dr., Doña Ana, N.M.

* The communities of Radium Springs, Fort Seldon and Leasburg will meet July 28, 2008, at the Radium Springs Community Center, 12060 Lindbeck Rd., Radium Springs, N.M.

* The communities of Vado, Del Cerro and Mesquite will meet July 29, 2008, at the Vado/Del Cerro Community Center, 180 La Fe St., Vado, N.M.

* The communities of La Mesa and San Miguel will meet July 30, 2008, at the La Mesa Pre-K Center, 253 E. Chimuri, La Mesa, N.M.

* The community of Chaparral will meet July 31, 2008, at the Chaparral Community Center, 190 County Line Rd., Chaparral, N.M.

* The communities of Anthony, Joy Drive, Berino, Las Palmeras and Montana Vista will meet Aug. 5, 2008, at the Anthony Elementary School, 609 Church St., Anthony, N.M.

* The communities of Rodey, Placitas, Salem, Garfield, Milagro and Rincon will meet Aug. 6, 2008, at the Rincon Community Center, 220 Baker St., Rincon, N.M.

* The communities of La Union, Chamberino and Santa Teresa will meet Aug. 11, 2008, at the La Union Catholic Church, 1320 Mercantil Ave., La Union, N.M.

* The communities of Talavera and Las Alturas will meet Aug. 12, 2008, at the Talavera Volunteer Fire Department, 5000 Achenback Canyon Rd., Las Cruces, N.M.

* The communities of Moongate, Organ, Butterfield Park, Amber Mesa and Picacho Hills will meet Aug. 13, 2008, at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, N.M.
