POLICE SEEK WOMEN ACCUSED OF PASSING FORGED CHECKS; BUSINESSES WARNED

A series of large checks forged against the account and bank-routing number of the Doña Ana County Detention Center have been reported to the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department for investigation.

Businesses in the greater Las Cruces area are warned to be on the lookout for two women who already have exchanged several bogus checks for large sums of cash.

Investigators said the women are using the names Virginia Salas and Guadalupe Corral. Salas is using a date of birth of June 22, 1979. Corral is using a date of birth of Dec. 12, 1947.

Investigators have confirmed that two large checks that were cashed at Home Depot and Staples, respectively. The investigation indicates that other checks may also have been cashed.

Investigators warn businesses throughout Doña Ana County to report these individuals by calling 911 if they attempt to cash any further checks. The checks will not be honored. The women face multiple felony charges upon apprehension.
