SUBDIVISION-REGULATION CHANGES AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW, COMMENT

The Doña Ana County Planning Department has completed a draft revision of the county’s subdivision regulations. The new, proposed regulations are now available for public review and comment prior to being submitted to the Doña Ana County Planning and Zoning Commission and, ultimately, the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners for approval.

Some major changes to the proposed regulations are:

1)Inclusion of an optional sketch-plan process

2)Differentiating between preliminary and final plat submittals

3)A new section on master plans

4)Revision of the exemption regulating how many subdivided parcels can be sold or conveyed within a five-year period

5)Revision of second and subsequent agency reviews from 30 to 10 working days

6)Simplification of the process to correct or amend a plat, giving the director authority to approve in certain instances

7)Adjusted fees to correspond with those charged by the City of Las Cruces regarding separate submittals, and preliminary, final, and amended plats

8)Removal of the design standards to be placed under a separate ordinance.

The contents of the entire revised document are available for review at the Doña Ana County Planning Office and on the Doña Ana County Planning Office website at www.donaanacounty.org/development.
