DELIA CERVANTES NAMED 2007 EMERGENCY MANAGER OF THE YEAR

Doña Ana County Office of Emergency Management Supervisor Delia Cervantes has been named the 2007 Emergency Responder of the Year by the New Mexico Emergency Management Association, which held its annual conference last week in Taos, N.M.

Cervantes has been employed at the Office of Emergency Management since December of 1998. She oversees more than $5 million in grant funding to facilitate local operations and training exercises for personnel from Doña Ana County, the City of Las Cruces and the State of New Mexico. She also works closely with emergency-response personnel at New Mexico State University, and in the Village of Hatch, the City of Sunland Park and the Town of Mesilla.

The New Mexico Emergency Management Association works with law enforcement and public safety personnel across all 33 of New Mexico’s counties to encourage and facilitate training, education and professional development of emergency responders.
