UPDATED FLOOD MAPS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION AND REVIEW

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) and a corresponding Flood Insurance Study Report for Doña Ana County. These DFIRMs contain proposed Special Flood Hazard Areas as determined by Flood Insurance Studies performed by the City of Las Cruces, the Doña Ana County Flood Commission and FEMA.

This project is part of FEMA’s initiative to modernize flood-plain maps nationwide. The new maps include Special Flood Hazard Areas, which are the areas that would be inundated in a 100-year-flood event. The maps also show flood elevations throughout Doña Ana County. Due to the decertification of portions of the Rio Grandé levee system, many areas along the river are in newly designated FEMA Special Flood Hazard Areas.
