DOÑA ANA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT TARGETS DWI IN MARCH

The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department Traffic Division is gearing up for a coordinated DWI-prevention program that will last throughout the month of March, with particular emphasis on the St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Deputies throughout the department are being recruited for grant-paid overtime to man checkpoints and assist with saturation patrols throughout the county.

“Drinking and driving in Doña Ana County is never a good idea,” said Sheriff Todd Garrison. “The Traffic Division has put together a big net for the month of March. As always, impaired drivers will be caught, and they will be prosecuted.”

The checkpoints will be set up at various locations and times throughout the county, augmented by saturation patrols in areas where DWI arrests are statistically most likely to occur.
