SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT FITS NEW CRUISERS WITH IMPROVED LIGHTS, SEATS

The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department is fitting 12 new patrol units with LED emergency lights that cost less, last longer and decrease energy consumption on the vehicle batteries.

The new light bars are smaller but brighter, making the vehicles simultaneously harder to distinguish as police vehicles from a distance in traffic and easier to spot from a distance when the lights are activated.

In addition, the cruisers are being fitted with new, solid-plastic back seats that are significantly easier to clean than the traditional cloth seats. The plastic seats are molded so that handcuffed suspects can ride in greater comfort with their hands behind their backs.
