COUNTY GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS TO OPEN AS USUAL; EARLY CLOSURES POSSIBLE

Doña Ana County employees are being advised to report to work for normal operating hours at the Doña Ana County Government Center. The weather-related closure announced yesterday has been rescinded.

The National Weather Service advises that icy conditions seem to have missed Las Cruces, although communities north of Hatch have snow-packed and icy conditions. Las Cruces and southern Doña Ana County are now projected to continue to accumulate rain, turning to snow later in the day as temperatures drop.

The Doña Ana County Emergency Operations Center remains activated and will monitor the situation throughout the day.

County Manager Brian D. Haines said the Government Center may close early if weather conditions deteriorate.

“Our first priority is the safety of our employees and the public,” Haines said. “We’ll take our cues from the Emergency Operations Center and proceed accordingly.”
