STORM PRECAUTION: DOÑA ANA COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER TO CLOSE FRIDAY, JAN. 19

In anticipation of a serious winter storm for this area, the Office of Emergency Management will be fully activated at 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, and will likely remain activated through the weekend.

County Manager Brian D. Haines has authorized the closure of the Doña Ana County Government Center on Friday due to probable hazardous driving conditions for employees and the public. Many roads are expected to be closed by law enforcement as the storm moves in and settles over the area.

These office closures will not affect law enforcement, emergency services, the Office of Emergency Management or the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

County employees have been advised to monitor Comcast Channel 20 to receive updates and advisories related to the storm.

In the event the storm is less powerful or dangerous than predicted at this point, the County Manager reserves the right to reopen the Doña Ana County Government Center for business at any time Friday. In that event, the re-opening will be broadcast on local radio and on Comcast Channel 20. Employees who can safely come to work will be expected to do so in the event of re-opening, and the public will be notified of the targeted time to reopen for business.
