THREE COUNTY COMMISSIONS MEET JAN. 15 TO DISCUSS SPACEPORT ISSUES

The Doña Ana, Sierra and Otero county commissions will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, in a special work session to discuss issues and concerns related to the development of Spaceport America, which is located north of Las Cruces. Key staff from all three counties will be on hand.

The Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center will open to the public at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, for the work session, which will be preceded by a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Departmental offices will be closed in observance of the federal holiday honoring Dr. King.

Although the holiday scheduling is unusual, all three commissions agreed that it was the only feasible time to hold the work session in advance of the Jan. 16 convening of the New Mexico Legislature.

The work session will feature presentations by state and local officials. Public participation at the work session is encouraged, and questions will be accepted in writing.
