VETERANS ADVISED OF SPECIAL EVENTS THIS WEEKEND

The 2006 Veterans and Military Appreciation Monday will be observed Nov. 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Golden Corral Family Steakhouse, 601 S. Telshor Blvd., in Las Cruces.

Golden Corral will provide a free buffet meal and beverage to all U.S. active duty military personnel, and veterans, as well as any member of the National Guard or Reserves. The offer does not include a free meal for spouses or any other family members.

The N.M. Department of Veterans Services and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) along with the American Legion will have information available during meal time concerning veterans’ benefits.

The Garrison Flag will be flown at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Roadrunner Parkway on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006. The public is invited to participate and observe the flag-raising at 8 a.m. The lowering of the flag will coincide with the conclusion of the Veterans Wall Ceremony dedicating the Persian Gulf War veterans’ names that will be added to the wall.

That ceremony will start at 4:30 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and observe and participate in the lowering of the Garrison Flag.
