RESIDENTS WARNED OF CREDIT-CARD PHONE SCAM

A number of Doña Ana County residents and employees have reported receiving calls recently from people claiming to represent various law-enforcement agencies and asking for credit-card information to process donations.

Residents are warned that this is a fraudulent attempt on the part of criminals to obtain your credit-card information. No law-enforcement agencies in Doña Ana County are soliciting funds, and residents should never give their credit-card information or personal information to unsolicited callers.

The perpetrators of these calls face severe criminal penalties if apprehended. Any information you may have as to the identity of the callers should be reported immediately to CrimeStoppers at (505) 526-8000.
