SUE PADILLA NAMED ASSISTANT COUNTY MANAGER FOR DOÑA ANA COUNTY

Doña Ana County Manager Brian D. Haines has announced the promotion of M. Sue Padilla to the position of Assistant County Manager. The promotion became effective Sept. 1. She retains her duties as Director of Utilities and Environmental Services.

As assistant county manager, Padilla answers directly to Haines and oversees all day-to-day supervision of the county’s directors and department heads. She also will assume the role of acting county manager when Haines is on leave or out of the office on business.

A native of Grants, N.M., Padilla is a former village administrator and personnel director for the town of Bosque Farms, N.M. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and agricultural extension from New Mexico State University, and she is a graduate of the Utilities Management Institute in San Antonio, Texas.

Padilla was promoted from the position of Executive County Facilitator/Director of Utilities and Environmental Services, which she had held since January 1, 2006. Padilla started work for Doña Ana County on Sept. 23, 2002, as a financial specialist in the Utilities Department. She was promoted to department head on March 17, 2004.

“Sue Padilla knows this county’s operations inside-out,” Haines said. “She has the experience and the skills to help the Board of Commissioners and me as we seek to shape the county’s future and to keep advancing our staff-wide commitment to customer service and fiscal prudence.”
