RAIL CAR CONTENTS STABLE, UNAFFECTED BY FLOODWATERS

Southwestern Railroad has confirmed the contents of nine rail cars situated in downtown Hatch.

Five of the rail cars contain kerosene, and four contain liquid ammonia. All nine cars have been inspected and declared stable. There is no danger of leakage.

Although the rail beds have not suffered any obvious erosion, the cars will not be moved until standing water is drawn down below the rail beds and further inspections can be performed. A determination has been made that leaving the cars stationary is the safest course of action for the community at this time.
