PUBLIC INVITED TO MEETING ON NEW HEALTHCARE PROGRAM

Residents in Las Cruces and Doña Ana County are invited to attend a meeting on the community’s new healthcare program called Access to Care - Healthy Communities Access Program (HCAP). The meeting will be Friday, July 14th at the Doña Ana County Government Center at 8:30 a.m. at 845 N. Motel in the Commission Chambers.

HCAP seeks to improve healthcare in the county through implementation of a web-based network that will reduce duplication and improve quality of care. One of the goals of this program is to reduce the number of non-emergent visits to emergency rooms through coordinated healthcare, education and outreach programs. HCAP benefits both uninsured and insured residents.

The community of Doña Ana received a federal grant for more than $1 million to initiate the program. The meeting will detail how HCAP works and what it will do to improve access to healthcare for the residents of Doña Ana County.

Several New Mexico State Representatives, City Councilors and County Commissioners will attend a later meeting the same day at Memorial Medical Center at 11:30 a.m., 2450 N. Telshor. They will discuss the benefits of this new healthcare service.
